Mcnabb responds; Campbell disagrees & more

Donovan Mcnabb has a response to the backlash created by his comment that 'black quarterbacks face a tougher scrutinization'. This was posted on his Yardbarker Blog yesterday. I am just now finding out that Mcnabb has a blog; it should be very intersting to tune in and follow this blog during the course of what could be a tough season for the Eagles and maybe Mcnabb's swan-song.

In sharp contrast, Washington Redskins Quarterback, and fellow African-American Jason Campbell responded that he does not feel any increased scrutiny due to the fact that he is indeed a black quarterback.
"That's his opinion, and as an African-American quarterback, I have to support other African-American quarterbacks," Campbell said of McNabb. "But it's something I can't get caught up in. I look at all quarterbacks as the same. I support every guy who's playing the position.

"It's the hardest position to play in professional sports, and you get graded differently than any other position on the field. Nine times out of 10 the ball is in your hands, so everybody is watching you. Since you're in the spotlight, the mistakes get recognized. You need thick skin and a short memory."

Homer/NCAA Alert: The Buckeyes polished off Washington for Jim Tresell's 200th career collegiate victory. They're ready for Northwestern to enter Ohio Stadium this weekend and so am I. This Buckeyes team makes big plays when they need them most and they have a smothering defensive unit. They play to the personality and strength's of Jim Tresell's gameplan, affectionately known as 'Tresell-ball' during the 2002 National Championship campaign. Keep the game close until late, kick field goals, play defense, win field position battles, and hope that special teams or a big play late wins it for you.

Over at Dissapointment Zone it is reported that the Browns have moved up ever so slightly in the Political, Pukey Power Rankings of the major media outlets. On average the Browns are now averaged out to the 25th ranked team in the NFL, ranked highest at #25 by Sports Illustrated's Dr. Z and Fox Sports.

These don't hold much water with me. The Browns would realistically have to run off about 8 more wins in a row to crack the top-10. Media darling teams, who have earned it I might add more than the Browns, always seem to get ranked better and higher than stinker teams like my Brownies. As a kid this really bent me out of shape, now I understand that ESPN has to cock-gobble and cater to the likes of these teams and the Browns aren't in their circle of trust. You watch, if we win this week in Oakland--we'll be ranked maybe up to 20 at the most, still behind some 1 win teams. If we lose, it's back down to #30 and the lowest rank team with a win.

Starbucks is now marketing to kids. At the risk of sounding like Peter King, it's an interesting read. It has nothing to do with football, other than the fact that my favorite pre-game ritual is to head to Starbucks, get a grande, non-fat, light whip, caramel macchiato, with a extra shot of espresso. I also get a large ice-water. I then guzzle the caffeine, guzzle the water just for hydration/cancelling out purposes, and pack an extra large dip of Skoal Straight. Then I take a massive, satisfying shit just before kickoff. Now that is excellent. Whatever Starbucks is doing, it's working on me.

Reggie Bush or LenDale White? I'll take Reggie, Reggie, Reggie, and Reggie for the next 12 seasons.

We all know I've been dying to see Brady Quinn get on the field for the Browns. AOL Fanhouse basically says that JaMarcus Russell is not going to see any playing time this season other than junk time and at best he might see some time around Christmas, but it's probably out of the question.

Lastly, my days as a morning blogger are over. As of monday I've switched places of employment, so I'm no longer going to be able to jagoff during company time in these parts and have free reign during the morning scoops. This will lead to mass amounts of posts during the night time hours and on the weekends. The show will go on. As the dumb, shit kicking hick in Casino says: "Bullshit. I'm not going anywhere."
