The Cleveland Browns have parted ways with Charlie Frye, their 3rd round pick in the 2005 NFL draft out of Akron University. The Nosebleeds has learned that Frye has been shipped to the Seattle Seahawks for a 6th round draft choice in the 2008 NFL draft.Frye has been 6-13 as a starter for the Browns in the last 2+ seasons. He started sunday's game in Cleveland against the rival Steelers and went 4 for 10 with an interception and only 34 yards passing.
I personally don't know about this. It sure makes us look like as usual, our front office and head coach managed to shit the bed. It kind of bothers me that we wasted first team snaps on this guy all preseason if he was going to be let go after week 1 and pulled after quarter 1. I also want to know what ever made our talent evaluators (Phil Savage) think that Charlie was worthy of a 3rd round selection? I knew in college as did my fraternity brother peers, that Frye wasjust a decent at best QB at a lower quality MAC conference school. This was a lame ditch attempt at a feel good story gone bad.
The team has welcomed Ken Dorsey back with open arms as reported last night. Right now it would appear the depth chart has Derek Anderson at #1, Brady Quinn at #2, and Ken Dorsey at #3. This is really turmoil in this situation, but at least the organization was able to get something for Frye, even if it's a meaningless and late 6th round pick.
Replay of the opening daze. (Cleveland Plain Dealer)
